Privacy Policy

This policy explains how PDF Scanner & Merge handles documents, local app data, permissions, advertising data, and the choices available to you.

Short version

Core scanning and PDF merging happen on your device. We do not upload document contents to perform those tasks, and no account is required. The app is free and supported by advertising. Advertising providers process limited advertising and technical data as described below; document contents are not used for advertising.

1. Overview

PDF Scanner & Merge lets you capture or import pages, create PDFs, and combine existing PDF files. Core document processing is local to your Android device.

This policy applies to the PDF Scanner & Merge Android app. When Android or another app displays a file picker, sharesheet, PDF viewer, browser, or settings screen, that service handles information under its own terms and privacy practices.

2. Data we handle

Documents and imagesPages you capture, images you select, PDFs you select for merging, and PDFs the app creates. They are processed locally for the task you request.
File informationFile names, locations granted through Android system pickers, page counts, sizes, order, result type, and creation time used to perform a task and show app-created results.
Scan draftsA local draft may include private page copies, crop corners, rotation, enhancement choice, and page order so unfinished work can be resumed.
PreferencesTheme, default page size, default output quality, and other app settings stored locally on the device.
Advertising dataLimited device, app, network, consent, diagnostic, and ad-interaction information processed by advertising providers as detailed in Section 3.

What we do not require

No account, profile, cloud storage account, or subscription is required for the core scan and merge workflows. We do not use document contents for advertising, profiling, or sale.

3. Advertising and related data

PDF Scanner & Merge is a free, ad-supported app.

Advertising providers process limited information to select, deliver, measure, and protect advertisements. This information includes advertising or app-scoped identifiers, IP address, device and operating-system information, app version, consent status, coarse location inferred from IP address, ad views and interactions, and diagnostic or fraud-prevention signals.

Where required, consent choices determine whether advertising is personalized. Without personalization consent, providers use contextual or limited-data advertising where available. You can review or reset advertising choices through consent controls shown in the app and applicable Android or device settings.

Document contents, captured pages, imported images, selected PDFs, created PDFs, and their contents are not provided to advertising providers and are not used to select ads.

Advertising providers act under their own privacy obligations and may retain advertising information according to their policies, legal requirements, and fraud-prevention needs.

4. Permissions and system access

Camera

Camera permission is requested only when you choose to capture a document. If access is denied, image import remains available.

Images, PDFs, and save locations

The app uses Android system pickers to let you choose images and PDF files and to select where an output is saved. These choices grant access only to the items and locations exposed by the system. The app does not request broad “manage all files” access.

Open and share

When you choose Open or Share, Android sends the result to the viewer or destination app you select with temporary access needed for that action.

5. When data is shared

Document data is disclosed only when you direct Android to open, save, or share a file, or when disclosure is required to comply with law, protect users, investigate abuse, or defend legal rights.

Advertising data is processed by advertising providers for ad delivery, measurement, consent handling, security, and fraud prevention as described in Section 3. We do not sell document contents or use them for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Storage and retention

  • Active scan drafts and their processing settings remain in app-private storage until you discard or delete them, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
  • Temporary processing files are removed after completion, cancellation, failure, or later cleanup.
  • App-created private result copies and recent-result records remain until you delete them, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
  • Copies saved outside the app remain under your control in the selected storage location.
  • Advertising providers retain advertising and diagnostic data according to their policies and applicable law.

Original imported images and PDFs are not modified.

7. Your choices

  • Deny or revoke Camera permission in Android settings and use image import instead.
  • Choose which images and PDFs the app can read through Android system pickers.
  • Choose the destination for each exported PDF.
  • Delete scan drafts, app-managed results, or recent records from the app.
  • Delete externally saved files with your device’s file tools.
  • Review consent controls presented for advertising and applicable Android advertising settings.
  • Clear app data or uninstall the app to remove app-private data.

Requests concerning data held by a selected viewer, sharing destination, storage provider, or advertising provider may need to be directed to that provider.

8. Children’s privacy

The app is a general-audience document utility and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect document contents from children through an account because the app has no account system. If you believe a child has provided personal information in a way covered by this policy, contact us.

9. Security

We use Android app-private storage, scoped system access, and local processing to reduce exposure of document data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Protect your device, review the destination before sharing, and remove sensitive files when they are no longer needed.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, legal requirements, or data practices change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate notice in the app or its store listing.
